The Embassy of Portugal in Windhoek is responsible for the diplomatic representation of the Portuguese Government in Namibia.
This mission follows the political, economic, business and social development as well as all foreign policy issues. The Embassy is responsible for the development of bilateral relations with the State of Namibia, namely in the following areas: political, trade, business, investment, tourism, Portuguese language and culture.
The Embassy guarantee and promotes the Portuguese interests in Namibia and supports the Portuguese Community that resides in this country.
Tuna Universitária do Porto who was in Windhoek to participate in the celebrations of Portugal's National Day, used the opportunity to share the stage with Namibian artists Miss H and Lela, at the National Theater of Namibia on June 10th!
The Portuguese musical group composed of current and former students from Oporto University plays traditional instruments (guitars, mandolins, joined by violins, accordions and contrabass) with a rhythmic section of pandeiretas and light percussion of Latin American inspiration. The concert is a lively show case of Portuguese songbook as well as popular tracks with strong African and Latin American influences.
Portugal’s National Day celebrations in Namibia included a Gala Dinner, the premier diplomatic event in Windhoek! The 2017 Gala Dinner took place on Friday 9 June at the Safari Conference Centre.
The event brought together over 400 people among Portuguese nationals, diplomatic representatives, Namibian authorities and the media that together celebrated Portugal, the Portuguese culture and Portuguese community in Namibia, being able to meet old friends and make new business contacts.
On this prestigious occasion, that included a concert from the musical group Tuna Universitária do Porto, a special tribute was paid to the Portuguese Community in Namibia which has kept close ties with Portugal over the years while contributing to the development and prosperity of Namibia.
